A woman who came to the US from Argentina as a young woman has been named the new executive director of Manatee Community Foundation in Florida, the Bradenton Herald reports.

Thames, who has worked in nonprofit management for more than 20 years, says she plans to use her new position to "create and executing transformative initiatives built to have a positive and lasting impact in Manatee County and beyond."
